Artwork Checklist for Screen Printing & Embroidery Quotes (Files That Don’t Stall Production)
Send the right files the first time — vectors, colors, sizes, and placements — so screen printing and embroidery quotes move straight into proofs.
Most production delays are not press problems — they are file problems. Blurry logos, mystery colors, and “make it bigger” notes after the mockup all burn calendar days. Use this checklist before you hit send so your quote can become a proof instead of a scavenger hunt.
Best file types (in order)
- Vector: .AI, .EPS, .SVG, or PDF with live vectors
- High-res raster only if vector does not exist (300 DPI at print size)
- Avoid screenshot WhatsApp crops as the “final” art
Full studio rules live on our upload artwork page. If the logo needs redrawing, start with graphic arts — that is cheaper than reprinting a soft mark.
Tell us how the art will be decorated
- Screen printing: spot colors vs full color, front/back/sleeve, approx width
- Embroidery: intended size, garment type (tee, polo, hat), thread color notes
- Patches: shape, size, border, backing preference
Method changes the file prep. A stitch-ready mark is not automatically a four-screen print separation. Compare methods in screen printing vs embroidery if you are unsure.
Colors without the guessing game
Name brand colors (or Pantone when you have them). “Make it red like our Instagram” is not a production spec. On dark garments, call out whether white underbase is expected. For hats, confirm thread colors against the crown fabric.
Placement and size notes that save remakes
- Left chest vs full front vs sleeve — pick one primary
- Width in inches at the widest point
- Keep tiny legal text off embroidery when possible
Quote-ready send list
- Primary logo file (vector preferred)
- Garment style / color from the Shop
- Decoration method preference (or ask us to recommend)
- Quantity + size breakdown
- In-hand date
